About The Event
Every year, Diaspora Arts Connection gathers musicians and audiences in celebration and support of the female voice, especially those suppressed and censored in various parts of the world. Our annual event, Let Her Sing: A Celebration of Female Voices is a beacon of hope and empowerment, allowing female artists from all corners of the globe to take to stage and celebrate their unbridled ability to sing and perform freely. This year marks the seventh rendition of this monumental event. We're excited to announce that while we continue our tradition in San Francisco on September 23rd, we're also expanding our reach to Los Angeles, with a performance at UCLA's Schoenberg Hall on September 24th. On the first anniversary of Iran's Woman.Life.Freedom movement, and two years after the return of the Taliban to Afghanistan, this year's event features more than a dozen female performers who sing in solidarity with the female voice.
This year’s lineup features (in alphabetical order): Elaha Soroor (Afghanistan), Emma (Iran), Emel Mathluthi (Tunisia), Farah Siraj (Jordan), Hani Kian (Iran), Mandana Khazraei (Iran), Sakina Teyna (Kurdistan/Turkey), Sanam Maroufkhani (Iran), and The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir (USA).
